SPD Performance 2020-2024 Ford Explorer 3.0L EcoBoost ST / Platinum & Lincoln Aviator 304SS Catted Downpipes

The factory downpipes on the 3.0L twin-turbo Explorer and Aviator are a known bottleneck. Restrictive catalytic converters and undersized tubing choke exhaust flow, limiting turbo efficiency and leaving performance on the table. Worse, Ford’s original flex section placement (roughly 2.5 to 3 feet from the engine) amplifies a low-RPM vibration between 1,000 and 1,400 RPM that can fatigue exhaust components over time.

SPD Performance addressed both problems with a full redesign. These downpipes use 3” diameter mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel tubing paired with high-flow 400 CPSI EPA-approved catalytic converters. The result is significantly less backpressure, faster turbo spool, lower exhaust gas temperatures, and improved throttle response. The catalytic converters are manufactured in the USA and will not trigger check engine lights.

The standout engineering detail is SPD’s vibration fix. Rather than stiffening the mid-section (which only masks the issue), SPD relocated 6” flex sections directly after the cats. This absorbs the engine-generated vibration at the source, eliminating stress and fatigue on the rest of the exhaust system. The downpipes also come with removable factory 2.125” exhaust adapters, so you can bolt up to the stock cat-back or remove them and run a true dual 3” setup with an aftermarket system.

No custom tune is required. These downpipes are a direct factory replacement with TIG and MIG welded construction, factory-style flanged clamps on all turbo and exit connections, and all necessary hardware included in the box.
